We have seen a lot of the tooth fairy over the last 11 years. With the 4 oldest having pulled all their baby teeth, and Elizabeth having had her wisdom teeth pulled (the tooth fairy didn't come for those) Jonathan and James are now starting to pull their baby teeth. I have always thought the tooth fairy was very wise. She knows Jonathan doesn't understand the concept of money so she leaves him a DVD. The other children have always been left with money. On occasion over the years after the children have pulled their teeth and placed them under their pillow, the tooth fairy has flown past our house and missed getting their tooth. We have reasoned this out with the children that it was maybe to late when the tooth was pulled and they weren't on the list for that night. We then would place the tooth under their pillow the next night and, she would come exchange the tooth for money. James lost a tooth on Friday, we are all so glad. This tooth was on the bottom and had been very loose for some time. It was just hanging, stuck out to the side, and we all said it made him look like a bulldog. He doesn't do well when it's time to pull his teeth, he has such a fear of pain. Friday afternoon Arthur was looking at James tooth but not touching, he wouldn't let us. As James was sitting on his lap Arthur took his thumb and pushed on the outside of James lip and the tooth came right out, that's how loose it was. James was thrilled because he didn't expect it and it didn't hurt. Friday night came and James placed the tooth under his pillow, Saturday morning it was still there. So, James said "she must have missed our house I'll try again tonight". Saturday night comes and James tries again. Sunday morning a very disappointed James comes down the hall into the kitchen holding the yellow tooth chest to announce the tooth fairy missed him again. My heart sank, he was so sad. I was thinking what has happened to the tooth fairy that flies over southeast Tennessee? Did she go on vacation without backup, was she sick, did she get hurt on the way, did she run out of money, or ......was she just so tired she forgot? Sunday night on the third try James choose to place his tooth on the desk next to his bed, thinking this will help her find the tooth easier. Well, around 4:30 am this morning I'm pretty sure I heard the tooth fairy. I was up changing Jonathan, his feeding tube had come unplugged and was leaking in his bed. After I was done with that I'm pretty sure I heard her in the boys room. See, she must be busy if she didn't make it to our house until 4:30am, and maybe a little tired, too. James awoke to his yellow tooth chest empty under his pillow and $2 next to it, he seemed quite pleased. I believe I'm going to start praying harder for the tooth fairy. She still has a mouth full of teeth to pick up from James and Jonathan, not to mention she hasn't started on Stephen, William, and Wesley he hasn't even gotten all his baby teeth in yet. I'll keep you informed on the tooth fairy of southeast Tennessee.
