You know your a large family when...

Silly as it may sound in my day to day life I seldom think about our family being large. Having a family of 11 is "our" normal, and it happened over time NOT overnight. The times I see us as a large family are times when we are away from home, out in the world. (That's another whole post.) Last night at home it hit me like a ton of bricks......boy there are a lot of us.

For the past several nights the weather has been cooler making playing outside much more pleasurable. Arthur has been taking the kids out right after supper clean up, and they have been playing til dusk. Last night we were ALL out in the backyard playing a game, this is when it hit me.......How many families have enough kids to play RED ROVER? Well, we do...and it's so much fun. Arthur and I love playing, and find great joy in seeing your kids play together, act silly, and laugh....even if they're at times laughing at Arthur and I :)

Just last year the same type thing happened to Arthur in looking at our family. He was coming down our street, and noticed a group kids outside skating, riding bikes, and playing ball. He said I thought wow, that's a good size group of kids....thinking some of the kids were the neighbors. As he got closer to the house he could see ALL those kids were HIS!

Like I said "life is never dull and always interesting"!

That's awesome though! You are very blessed with your family - I don't know how you do it with 9 kids though - really, I know it is "your normal" but man..I'm exhausted with just my two (and 3rd on the way)!!!!

I love keeping up with you guys!

I know exactly what you are saying.
It's just who we are, what we are used to. And like you say, they come one at a time. They kind of grow on you :)

I am always taken back when I see a family photo of all of us. That's when I think, "Boy, that's a lot of kids"

I loved this post! We only, ;), have 5 kiddos and we feel small at home and huge when wego out in public. I find myself loking for another child all the time. Now that the baby, Rachel is walking and running around screaming No Stop or Mine I find myself looking for the "baby". :)

I love the part when Arthur realized they were all his. What a wonderful feeling that must have been.

I love acting like a child with the two year olds. It is my favorite part of the day!
