My Apologies...

I'd like to offer my apologies to all of you how have visited our blog in the past 24 hours. I created a Christmas slide show and didn't know the slide show contained music. Elizabeth is working at the store today. She just called and wanted to know what was up with the "bad" music on our blog. Knowing we don't have music on our blog my first thought was oh must be attached to the slide show...and it was! Our computer was on mute so I had no idea...again so sorry! For now the post has been removed until I can get the "trash music" off the slide show.

Candy Cane Christmas Party

On December 12th we had a Candy Cane Christmas Party. The party was themed around this book "The Legend of the Candy Cane".

Elizabeth baking goodies for the party.

Warm cookies coming right up...

the 4 big kids made peppermint bark candy....

Elizabeth made chocolate cupcakes with peppermint cream cheese icing...YUM!!!

Ruth Ella couldn't eat any of the goodies but wanted to be part of the fun :)

The boys getting their sugar fix...

Rozalin (my niece) and William loading their cookies up with sprinkles.

James trying to make sure his cookie has plenty of red icing.

Rebekah is helping Rozalin with the can of icing.

Wesley as always happy to just be right in the center of the fun.

Next the girls set up a table so the children could paint an ceramic ornament.

Each ornament came out so cute, reflecting each child.

Wesley thought he did a very nice job painting his heart ornament.

We displayed all of our children's ornaments on the tree in our kitchen.

After the goodies were eaten and the ornaments were painted Elizabeth read The Legend of the Candy Cane, and then Amanda took them to watch the video. This was a very nice way to start off our celebration of Jesus birth.

Babysitter in training

We are often ask about what age we start chores, and how much they can handle. I think children are often not given a chance to show who much they can do or help with. We start our children very young (if you have older children then I recommend the buddy system, teaming a older and younger child for chores) at helping do chores and small task around the house. It can begin with simple things like putting their toys away, placing shoes on the shelf, putting napkins on the table, sorting laundry, and as they seem to master each task we add a new one. By the time this child is 3 or 4 they can do a whole list of things. This helps our children see that we must take care of our home and possessions, being good stewards with what the Lord has blessed us with. It also helps our children to see that as a family we should work as a team to care for our family and home. William in the past year has taken on several new chores and task. The most recent being helping to care for his baby sister.

On this particular day William was given the task of "babysitter". The girls and I were busy in the kitchen, Madison and the bigger boys were doing chores, and Arthur was in Canada. Ruth Ella was tired of her swing and needed a little floor time. So, I called on William to try his hand at babysitting. I grabbed a blanket and William got his coloring book. I told William that I would be in the kitchen cooking if he needed me and he was to "babysit" Ruth Ella. At first William sat with Ruth Ella singing her songs, then he laid down next to her and showed her pictures in his coloring. Next he decided he would show her his crayons, naming the colors as he showed them to her. Finally he began to color telling Ruth Ella that the picture was for her. The time William spent with Ruth Ella wasn't just to help Mama out. This time was a time for William and Ruth Ella to bond. William used his imagination to help care for Ruth Ella, and in the end he felt very proud that he kept Ruth Ella so happy.

Ruth Ella loves William and I look forward to seeing them grow up together.

Memories Monday

Memories Monday
Christmas 2006

This was our Christmas picture in 2006,
I was pregnant with Wesley.
Hard to believe how the kids have grown and
changed so much.
In 2006 we had 5 boys/sons.
Wesley made his appearance in
March 2007
bringing our boy blessings up to 6!
Christmas is just 4 days away. This year
we have the joy of having another daughter.
We feel very blessed to have
Ruth Ella in our family.

*No amount of worldly gifts or
earthly possessions
can compare to the gift of life.
Life that was placed in a womb of a virgin,
to a babe born in a sable,
who grew to be the man,
who was beaten and stripped,
mocked with a crown of thorns,
hung on the cross, and bore our sins,
that we may be given the ultimate gift
the gift of eternal life in
Christ Jesus!
For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

I know this is such a simple and familiar verse of scripture, yet it speaks the truth of His love in volumes.

What's up...

We have had a busy week, as I'm sure most people have had getting ready for Christmas. Arthur arrived into Atlanta safe and sound Tuesday evening at 7:45 PM. He was waiting for us on the curb at the airport, we were all so excited to see his smiling face! We had a pleasant drive home and pulled into our driveway at 10:45PM. The next few days were filled with me having a migraine, shopping, baking, and the store being busy with doggies getting cleaned up for Christmas. The girls had a giveaway on their blog and the winner was announced this morning. This morning Arthur and 5 kids are at the store working, the store closes at noon then comes crunch time. The rest of the afternoon will be filled with preparations for Arthur's family Christmas party. Last year it was held in our home this year it will be in Arthur's brother Philip's home, taking lots of work off of us. We're looking forward to the gathering, Philip and Markietta's home is always very welcoming. The best part is this year for the first time in I'm not sure how many years all Arthur's siblings and their families will be there. The festivities start at 5:00PM, meaning when the kids get home we'll have to get busy baking and wrapping a few last minute items. Oh, and one can't forget make sure Wesley gets his nap...making us all very happy;) Hope to have pictures to share of our Christmas fellowship, Celebrating Christ Birth!

Don't forget tomorrow at 8:00PM the Blowout Giveaway ends, if you haven't entered you need to soon!

Look Daddy...

Hi Daddy!!!!
I miss you very much!!!!
Since your still in Canada we didn't want
you to miss out on my first
time sitting in my Bumbo seat.
So, Amanda took a picture of me while
sitting in my Bumbo,
and Mama talked to me to get me
to smile.
So, this smile is for you Daddy,
I LOVE YOU!!!
One more thing....
You know since I was born I liked sucking
on my fist and fingers if I could
get them in my mouth.
Well, Mama says she thinks I have
mastered getting my fingers into my mouth.
They taste so good and make a funny slurping
noise when I suck on them.
The best part is those tasty fingers help me
to calm down when I'm fussy,
isn't that great!
I'm only having one problem I can't figure out
which hand taste best the right or the left,
I think it's the right ;)
I'll see you in a few days Daddy. I can't wait to show you what a big girl I am in my Bumbo. After that we can have a little down time, I'll snuggle up on your shoulder in my cozy spot for a cat nap. While there I can show you how my fingers make that slurping sound. Tell all the Pauls "HI" from Mama, my siblings, and ME! Tell them we're still counting down the days until we see them...I believe I heard it's around 85 days. I'll finally get to meet my Canadian cousins (as we call them), Auntie Rosalie, and Uncle Mark. We'll see you at the airport Tuesday night Daddy, LOVE YOU!!!!
