Snow in the south!

Yesterday afternoon it started snowing, and the snow was coming down hard. We were a little skeptical that our area would get the snow that the meteorologist were calling for. In our part of Tennessee ( The Tennessee Valley) when they call for a big snow it always seems to miss us. So I was shocked we had such a wonderful snow....and our children were thrilled!!!

It didn't take long before the ground was covered. This winter has been very different from the winters past, we have had lots of very cold days (well cold for our part of the country) and now a good snow. To me this is making for one of the best winters in years!!!

William went straight out and began to eat the snow....I know don't eat the snow, I figured a little couldn't hurt ;) Arthur and I both ate snow as kids and we turned out OK didn't we ?!? heehee

Friday was Rebekah's day to cook supper and she had planned hamburgers...or as we refer to them Becky Burgers! YUM!!! She didn't want to change the menu so she was a trooper and grilled out in the snow....and they were tasty!

Neighbors were coming up and down our street to see all the children playing, then they gathered to chat.

Kids big and small stayed outside for hours.

After Rebekah finished cooking (we put eating supper on hold until everyone was done playing outside) she suited up and went out to play in the snow, with a project in mind. She started her project a little before 5:00 PM, and she seemed to be on a mission! No stopping her!

Wesley came along side Rebekah to help her out.

Stephen and Wesley picked a few sticks up to help out with the project.

Amanda joined Rebekah in the fun, because Rebekah started a "big" project!

Amanda trying to place the snowman base in just the right place.

A little after 7:00PM Rebekah and Amanda finished the 12 Snowmen project!

While the boys (couldn't get a picture of Madison & James they moved around to much) were outside playing in the snow and Rebekah and Amanda were building the snowmen, Elizabeth was inside baking up cookies for a snack!

I was surprised the girls made 12 snowmen in such a short period of time, they make a great team!!!

Today the snow was starting to melt some making a slushy mess, yet it's still pretty! Tonight it started to sleet and the temperature has dropped down below freezing. So for the next few days we'll have 12 visitors in our front yard to say "Hello"!

What a clever idea with the snowmen. I don't know what's more creative - - the idea to make one for every member of the family or the idea to put a photo of everyone's face.

You are getting the winter we had last year! This year is very mild for us and looking to be so for the next 10 days. As always, I enjoyed catching up on your family. I don't know why I have been so bad about blogging and reading blogs the last few months....I hate to get so far behind on what is going on with you!

LOVE THE HEADER!!!! Sounds like a great snow day. We've had an usually cold winter here in South LA but not enough snow to stick. Plus, the kids missed the snow because it happened after they went to bed. (This was a month or so ago.)

The snowmen are adorable!! I think our kids have waaay too much in common....making snowmen (we had neighbors taking pictures of our 9 little snowmen), eating snow (our kids like to pour rootbeer or some other beverage in the snow and make their very own slushy :-)

Adorable~ Cinnamon
