I think of books galore each time McKay Books comes to mind. I almost get giddy at the thought of the rows and rows of books, with endless titles, and topics, truly they have a book for every person and interest! I really wanted to share McKay Books with all of you, so, I took a few pictures with my cell phone. In the picture above I was shooting down one side of the home school row, the back wall of books holds some of their Christian books. This is just the beginning...
Each shelf is labeled in a way that makes it easy to find what you are looking for, these selves are full of mathematics books. All of their books are gently used and half the price or less than half of new ones, making this a home schoolers delight. If your like our family you home school and love to read, you must use self control while shopping ;)
On the second floor of McKay Books it's wall to wall Cd's, from Bach to Chris Tomlin and everything in between! They even have records, yes, records! I hope everyone reading this knows what records are, because I know some of my kids didn't......YES, that makes me feel really old! Looking below you can see blue signs, the signs tell what topic each section is. I didn't get a picture of the foot prints, the floor has color coded foot prints, that take you to specific areas.
The girls and I made this trip to McKay Books last week. We took 2 bags of DVDs, Cd's, and old books for trade (you can trade or sale your books there). We mainly trade because they give you more in trade than cash. This time we decided to take some in trade and some in cash. Last week we received a little over $200 in trade, we still have $45 dollars left in trade to use at another time, and we came home with $160 in cash...yep, that was a good trip!!!! Now here are a few of my finds....
Here are 3 history books that I loved, I really prefer old books, to the new! These are the kind of books I enjoy adding to our family library.
Did I mention that you can get some of the older books at a steal, at these prices you can see how we came home with arm loads of books!
This was my BIG find for the trip, I have longed to buy the McGuffey's Readers. Well this time they were in great shape and at an unbelievable price. Now we have first, third, and fifth grade, I hope to find the others later. The hunt is part of the fun :)
Now that I had some history and reading in my buggy, I thought that the "Littles" needed a few new books as well. I purchased each of these books at $1 a piece.
The girls and I shopped walked, looked, read, and then purchased. As we were making our way to the van we realized that 3 hours had passed, time flies when your having fun. As you can see home schooling doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Keep your eyes open for books and bargains, sometimes there in places you would least expect them.
If your ever in Tennessee just passing through there are 3 McKay Books locations, check them out you won't be disappointed!
