Mini Ring Books

Last school year, I was introduced to these amazing mini ring books. I couldn't believe how cute they were and what a great educational tool! My friend Christine, made these for her children. She made the alphabet, days of the week, months of the year, and colors! I told Christine how much I liked them, as I'm sure others did as well. Christine is very crafty but she is also computer savvy. Within no time, Christine had posted on her blog downloads to create your own.....with step by step instructions!!!!

Arthur printed all these off for me (last school year) and I finally got around to cutting, laminating, and putting the days ring book together. These are great!!!! Now I'm on to finish the other 3 sets.

Days of the weeks being cut, then ready to be laminated.

My finished Days, I only added ribbon to 1 set. You know I have boys using these not girls, yet :) I made 2 sets, with many littles one set just didn't seem like enough! I'll be back with pictures of our other finished sets.

If, you like the Mini Ring Books like I do head on over to Christine's blog Live to Learn! then make some for your kiddos! While your there check our Christine's sweet family, thanks again Christine for all the hard work you put into the Mini Ring Books!!

Sweet & Now 16!!!!!!

February 11,

Before I break into all of Rebekah's birthday pictures I feel the need to share a little story behind her theme. The theme for Rebekah's 16th birthday was created 12 years ago! When Rebekah was a little girl of about 4 years old she had a HUGE love for Sweet Sixteen white powdered donuts. We often bought these as a treat for Sunday mornings before church. Well, one day she learned of the name "Sweet Sixteen"! She told us that when she turns 16 all she would want for her birthday was DONUTS, Sweet Sixteen Donuts! As time past we stopped buying these donuts, BUT we never forgot our little girls love of those puffy white powder sugar donuts....or her dream of a Donut Party :)

The party of her dreams.....

Rebekah had a Sweet "16" Donut Party!!!!!

We decorated with red & white and black & white polka dots......

We found a donut tree topper......

The cake was really No cake, and wasn't Sweet Sixteen Donuts....

Rebekah's donut cake was made from Krispy Kreme donuts, you know you must have the very best! This donut cake was so much fun to create!!!

Rebekah was shocked and never thought that we would give her a donut party, I think she was even a little fearful that if we did what would it be like?! She was pleasantly surprised with how her Sweet Sixteen Donut party turned out.

Time to give the birthday girl her gifts, big things come in small packages!

There are Sweet Sixteen Donuts in the red & white polka dot pails on the table, they were used as decorations....of course the littles didn't let them go to waste :)

Make a Wish, and Blow!!!!!

Time for the D-O-N-U-T-S!!!!!!

Our smiling Sweet 16 year old, REBEKAH.....

So sweet....

Yippee so tasty....

We all enjoyed the donuts in place of the cake, and we had 1 donut a day for 3 days! So, this really was a treat!

The Munck Sisters, a Natural Sweet!!!!!!

Rebekah it's so very hard to believe that you aren't still our little 4 year old little girl who loves her Sunday morning donut treat. Now you're our Sweet 16 young lady who we are very proud of. You may have moved on from the donuts, but you'll always remain our girl! We love you so very much!!!!

Madison is now 14!!!

February 13, Madison turned 14!!!!

The 13th was a Sunday so, we had to decorate the night before.

Madison's birthday theme was hunting....mainly because he is really into his bow right now. He is saving up to buy a cross-bow.

Madison comes from a L-O-N-G line of hunters in both sides of our family uncles, cousins, his Papaw....and many children & years ago his Daddy. His interest has grown in hunting, and he hopes to take the hunter safety course soon. This way he will be ready to go hunting with all those relatives.

We prepared a huge birthday breakfast......

On the menu

*Strawberry OR Chocolate/Banana Smoothies
*Scrambled Eggs
*Turkey Bacon

It was a beautiful day, staying indoors didn't seem fitting. Early afternoon we ask Madison what he would like to do on "his"day. He said he would enjoy taking a ride down to
Chickamauga National Park, a very historic site of the Civil War. Madison absolutely loves all things History!

Madison and Ruth Ella taking in the site map of the park.

I believe Chickamauga has the most cannons we have ever seen.

William and Ruth Ella heading into the visitors center.....

Madison had been here before with his Uncle David but never taken the tour of the center. We were amazed at the guns on display, they looked very awkward to have to carry much less fire.

The center was full of information and replicas of the war.

We walked around reading and taking in more of the history, next headed over to the movie. The Civil War movie was 23 minutes and told all about the battle that was fought right there, so many lives lost on both sides! We highly recommend a trip to Chickamauga Battlefield. We then road through the park to see the monuments and explore.

After that it was back home, for last leg of his party.......

With Madison's birthday being on a Sunday and the day being so full, he chose to wait and open his presents after dinner. He also ended up with 2 meals that way, his dinner meal was Taco Salad and of course cake! Once again I made Madison an ice cream cake, this year it was a Reese's peanut butter cup cake!

This was a day filled with love, fun, laughter, sunshine, and food!

Foam Soap...

Our sweet friend Miss Lynda, hadn't heard of foam soap, and wondered if it's edible?!? Well, Miss Lynda "NO it's not", but Miss Ruth Ella eats it anyway! We have been using foam soap for years and this is our first child who likes to eat it. We do watch her and try to stop her from gobbling it up. Now that she is getting bigger and wiser, she just smears it on her face really fast and then sticks her thumb in her mouth. Of course she does this to help hide the fact that the thumb was covered in fluffy soap that she finds so tasty! I am now assuming that it must not be to toxic because she hasn't ever gotten sick :-? I wonder if her body gets as clean from the foam soap as her mouth does :)

Our week...

This week seemed to fly by with just basic life activities, here's a glimpse of a few of our happenings.......

Our week started off with much warmer weather, sunshine, fresh air and ~SMILING~faces!!!

Arthur began cutting down our weeping willow tree that has been struck by lightning 2 times. We are sad to see the tree go but it's rotting and has began to house squirrels and lots of insects.

Madison was enlisted to help with the tree project, he and Arthur made a great team!

We watched 3 flocks of geese fly over our house heading back north...another sign of spring coming! (This picture was taken with my cell phone so it's not a great shot)

I gave Arthur and 5 boys haircuts, it's a task I'm glad to have marked off my least for the next 6 weeks.

Arthur taught James how to vacuum the pool, this will be one of his new chores when summer arrives. James was so excited to have graduated up to this job. We are working towards getting our home ready for spring/summer.

The girls baked cookies, this weekend.

Bath time and Foam Soap's Yummy too!!!!

Arthur and the boys burned some brush and broke out a bag of marshmallows. Then they sat back and had some "boy" talk, you know the kind of talk that boys have with a daddy.

Stephen doing one of his chores, before going out to play.

William loved sitting atop the cut willow tree, he felt he had a birds eye view :) Our whole week was full of spring like weather with temperatures reaching into the 60's.

The outcome of our the warm weather and sun.....poor Wesley got sun burnt!
Now on to another week, I look forward to seeing what it brings our way!

He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

Summer 1998
Rebekah and Madison have been buddies from the day he was born! They are 2 years and 2 days apart in age.

Winter 1999
From early on they stuck close and worked together in schemes of mischief.

Summer 2002
After a couple of years the only thing that separated Rebekah and Madison was age, because by the time he was 3 they were about the same size. So, from there on everyone thought that Rebekah and Madison were twins!

They have shared lots of birthday memories....

Cakes and Candles!!!

February 11th was Rebekah's birthday
February 13th
was Madison's birthday!!!

(Bekah's birthday this year 2011)

These 2 pick and joke like an old married couple, I'm so happy they are still so close. What a neat bond they share. Funny thing is now people don't think they are twins, often they think Madison is older than Rebekah. It could be because Rebekah is only 4 foot 10inches tall and can still wear kids shoes.....then there is Madison! He is 5 foot 8 inches tall and wears a size 12 shoe! Now he can be her protector :) What a blessing they are to our family!
