MARCH 1, 2011
Elizabeth grew another year older 19, that's so hard for me to believe! Our first baby is now 19, really how did it happen so fast? I recall her birth like it was yesterday, yet, now when I call her name I see a beautiful young lady standing before me....not an infant in my arms. The most wonderful part about your children getting older is all the memories you have of them growing, and the bond that you created with them in the process...which is priceless!
We had a great deal of fun putting Elizabeth's party together, I think she was very surprised!
The birthday theme was a tea, and the decorations had her favorite thing on them butterflies in her favorite color purple!
We skipped the cake again with her party and went more with the tea theme. We had lemon cookies, chocolate covered strawberries (thanks to Rebekah), along with Elizabeth's all time favorite cookies Thumbprint cookies. The Thumbprint cookies were purchased from The Village Bake Shop, this small cookie is ordered from all over the world from the Village Bake Shop it's there claim to fame. When Elizabeth was tiny and not even walking, Arthur (also his favorite cookie) would take her to get Thumbprint cookies from Miss Teresa...daughter of the owner, and our friend. This is when Elizabeth's love first began. Since then I'm not sure Elizabeth has gone one birthday without Thumbprint cookies!
The tree was decorated in purple ribbon, a tea cup hand towel served as the topper, and tea pot ornaments...which I found online!
We served 2 kinds of tea Raspberry and Peach Mango.....
Dinner by candle light and fresh flowers....
The birthday menu....
*Fresh veggies and dip
* A variety of Crackers with 3 types of cheese
*Chicken Salad sandwiches on croissants
*Pimento Cheese sandwiches
*And P.B.J for the younger tea guest :)
I also made banana pudding, not an item for a tea but Elizabeth had ask for it for several weeks.
The boys loved eating by candle light and drinking out of our China tea cups, that was the greatest! I believe Wesley held his tea cup during most of our dinner.
After dinner it was present time....
Each of our children give the birthday sibling a gift:) Rebekah gave Elizabeth 4 tea spoons that have a cupcake on top...these she placed in her hope chest. She also gave her some raspberry flavored honey jam, Elizabeth loves honey!
Time for candles and a birthday wish!!!!
We don't have a wish for Elizabeth but a hope and a prayer. We pray that she continue to grow in the Lord and His word. That He will have His hand upon her and continue to mold her into the woman He wants her to be....and we believe He is doing just that! We look forward to seeing all the wonderful things He has planned for her in the coming year.
