Always a Mama

Today I am 32 weeks along!!! It's so hard for me to believe that in 8 weeks give or take we will welcome Baby 11 into our home! I'm feeling well, and B-I-G!!! But big is so worth it when the outcome is a fuzzy headed, sweet smelling baby. There isn't anything sweeter than that! I think most Mamas would agree, if you had 100 children in your lifetime that there is nothing more wonderful than your new born being placed upon your chest for the that first nuzzle....a little slice of heaven on earth!

I knew such a mother as this, when I was growing up. The kind of Mother that would have welcomed in those 100 babies. She was a tiny, wrinkled, frail, gray haired lady who sat in a wheel chair. I didn't know her personally, and by the time I met her she couldn't communicated with me. You see this Lady was in the nursing home, and my mother was her nurse for many years. Several times a week after school I would go to the nursing home to wait until my mothers shift was over. When the patients supper came I would walk rounds with my mother as she gave out medications. A few times my mother introduced me to this Lady, my mother would always tell her "this is my daughter Laura, she is my baby". She never spoke but when my mother spoke it would often bring a smile to her face. As my mother would finish giving out medications in the dining hall this Lady seemed to always keep me captivated. She would sit in her wheel chair holding a baby doll. She held it close to her chest, rocked the doll and sang songs to it. I never saw this Lady without a baby doll in her arms. Without anyone giving you information about this Lady had you seen her for yourself you would have known, she is a MAMA! In her appearance a million words were spoken about who she was, her songs and care for her baby spoke another million about her heart ♥

My mother told me some about the Lady, she had Alzheimer's Disease. She had many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had loved being a Mama and grandmother. My mother said that her family often spoke about how she was happiest when she had a baby in her arms and was caring for little ones. My mother also told me that she didn't remember her children or grandchildren any more because of the Alzheimer's. But the thing she did remember was the one thing she loved the most, being a Mama to all her babies...her children and grandchildren!

Today being a Mama to soon to be 11 children brings great joy to my heart and I feel beyond blessed. I hope when I am old others will be able to look at me and without words spoken see on my countenance I'm a "Mama". For I am unworthy of the gift of 11 children. I praise God everyday for the miraculous gift of children, each one is very special!

"Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14

OUR FAMILY HAS A MUCH DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE, HAPPINESS, AND LOVE DUE WALKING HAND IN HAND WITH JONATHAN ON A DAILY BASES...IT'S A MUCH RICHER LIFE BECAUSE OF HAVING HIM IN OUR FAMILY. I OFTEN THINK WHY DID THE LORD FEEL WE COULD BE GOOD ENOUGH PARENTS TO THIS VERY SPECIAL BOY. WE ARE HONORED TO CALL HIM OUR SON.

Jonathan learned to swing himself this year, he loves to be outside with his brothers.

Swimming is his all time favorite thing, he swims like a fish!

She thought the big glass bowl full of buttery popcorn was all for her....

Pulling the glass bowl between her legs for safe keeping when it was positioned just right she would allow her brothers their portion of the yummy goodness!

Elizabeth turned 19!!!!

A few weeks ago on

MARCH 1, 2011Italic

Elizabeth grew another year older 19, that's so hard for me to believe! Our first baby is now 19, really how did it happen so fast? I recall her birth like it was yesterday, yet, now when I call her name I see a beautiful young lady standing before me....not an infant in my arms. The most wonderful part about your children getting older is all the memories you have of them growing, and the bond that you created with them in the process...which is priceless!

We had a great deal of fun putting Elizabeth's party together, I think she was very surprised!

The birthday theme was a tea, and the decorations had her favorite thing on them butterflies in her favorite color purple!

We skipped the cake again with her party and went more with the tea theme. We had lemon cookies, chocolate covered strawberries (thanks to Rebekah), along with Elizabeth's all time favorite cookies Thumbprint cookies. The Thumbprint cookies were purchased from The Village Bake Shop, this small cookie is ordered from all over the world from the Village Bake Shop it's there claim to fame. When Elizabeth was tiny and not even walking, Arthur (also his favorite cookie) would take her to get Thumbprint cookies from Miss Teresa...daughter of the owner, and our friend. This is when Elizabeth's love first began. Since then I'm not sure Elizabeth has gone one birthday without Thumbprint cookies!

The tree was decorated in purple ribbon, a tea cup hand towel served as the topper, and tea pot ornaments...which I found online!

We served 2 kinds of tea Raspberry and Peach Mango.....

Sweet treats......

Dinner by candle light and fresh flowers....

The birthday menu....
*Fresh veggies and dip

*Mixed Nuts
* A variety of Crackers with 3 types of cheese
-Pepper Jack
-Colby
-Sharp Cheddar
*Chicken Salad sandwiches on croissants
*Pimento Cheese sandwiches
*And P.B.J for the younger tea guest :)

I also made banana pudding, not an item for a tea but Elizabeth had ask for it for several weeks.

The boys loved eating by candle light and drinking out of our China tea cups, that was the greatest! I believe Wesley held his tea cup during most of our dinner.

After dinner it was present time....

Each of our children give the birthday sibling a gift:) Rebekah gave Elizabeth 4 tea spoons that have a cupcake on top...these she placed in her hope chest. She also gave her some raspberry flavored honey jam, Elizabeth loves honey!

Time for candles and a birthday wish!!!!

We don't have a wish for Elizabeth but a hope and a prayer. We pray that she continue to grow in the Lord and His word. That He will have His hand upon her and continue to mold her into the woman He wants her to be....and we believe He is doing just that! We look forward to seeing all the wonderful things He has planned for her in the coming year.

Mini Ring Fun!

FINISHED....
After more cutting, laminating, hole punching, and adding some ribbon....
Arthur and I finished the last Mini Ring!

I absolutely love them and the boys are enjoying them as well.
Don't you just love to watch your children excited about learning!?!

Here is our alphabet Mini Ring.
I think the pictures are great, as well as the flip side
with the letter and words.

The color Mini Ring has more than just colors,
each color also teaches a different shape!

I'm not sure at the moment which one is my favorite
the alphabet or the color ring....
it's a toss up?

If you would like to make your own just hope on over to my friend Christine's blog,
she created a download for these and give step by step instructions!

Bonnet Creek Resort

This is the view we have enjoyed for a week,
and we are sad to pack up to head home.
Even though the vacation started off
with a few kinks having had van issues.
This vacation was truly the most relaxing vacation we have
ever had as a family....
Lots of time spent in play and fellowship, what could be better?!?

Now we are heading home,
prayerfully with no van problems on the way :)
