A quick project...

At the first of the year we were given an unexpected gift, a dining room table. I wrote about it HERE. We have enjoyed this table very much, and I know the family before us did as well. For the past several months we have used this table to eat all our meals. When we received the table we knew that the finish was a bit worn, mainly on the benches. One bench continually had a sticky feel so we sat Ruth Ella's booster seat there. The problem was that when we sat in that spot when the booster was moved we would stick to the bench! Not fun to get up with bench stuck to your backside :0 So, Arthur came up with a quick fix since we don't have the time to refinish the table and benches.

The bench before...

We found this cheery vinyl material at the fabric store, we thought the pattern would add some character to our table.

Arthur measured, cut, and then got busy trying to transform the benches...

Within no time our worn sticky bench had a new look and was ready to welcome sitters of all ages. It has now been a week since the benches were covered and they are holding up wonderfully. Again, what a blessing this dining table is to our family.

What type of home project have you or your family done lately?

I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

Very cute!!! We've started our preparations for our church' annual 4th of July picnic at our house. It will be fun and HOT. The challenges are already being made regarding our badmintion tournament. It shall be interesting since I like to play hard and win if possible (Rob and I made it to the championship game last year.) but the heat, nausea, and being in my 1st trimester may slow me down a bit.

The benches turned out nice. Pretty choice of material.
Our projects this summer are to replace wood on the decks, keep up with the garden and do a major clean-out of the all the stuff we have around here and get rid of some of it.
