Early Birthday Surprise!

Today was a good day for a surprise,
some much needed family time,
and we were way overdue for F-U-N!

Since the store was to be closed regular hours Friday-Sunday
we thought lets take a day trip....
We still have boarding dogs, but we were very blessed by
a couple of dear friends who volunteered to take care of our afternoon walks.

Amanda's birthday is Sunday, so we decided to start celebrating early.
We went to the Titanic Museum.
Amanda loves history and has spent many hours, days, and months
studying Titanic history.

The ship was amazing!
On the tour you couldn't take pictures,
I wish I had words to describe what we saw and took in.

As we waited to board the ship we each were given a ticket
with a name of a passenger or crew member.
It contained information about that person, why they were passengers
or what they did as a crew member on the Titanic.
A few of us saw items about the people on display, making it feel all the more real.

The tour ended in the discovery room....
which displayed all the names of the passengers and crew.
The walls listed the names of those who lived or perished.
We then looked for the name we were given at the beginning of the tour to see if we lived.
Most all of us were given names of people who lived,
William and Wesley both perished.

The average person tours the museum for 2 hours.
We were there for 4 hours and could have easily stayed longer
yet we were all getting hungry.

On to a late lunch, early dinner at

Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant

Ruth Ella was all about there Mac & Cheese

Jonathan was thrilled with the yummy
Homemade Apple Butter & Applewood Apple Fritters
we had to slow him down :)

We really enjoyed the mild weather...

Boys~ waiting
(not sure Jonathan liked waiting ;)

The mill and store have so much to....

and just plain ol' enjoy!

Apples, Apples

Oh Squeal....

My favorite time of year....

Before we know it fall will be here along with Thanksgiving...

May we do as the pumpkin says below....

A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished. Proverbs 28:20

Fun! Looks like you all had a great time! We wanted to go to the Titanic exhibit that was in Atlanta, but it was SO expensive. Maybe we'll do this instead.

YUM!!!! We LOVE that restaurant, too! I could almost taste the apple fritters when reading your blog. Bill and I have not visited the Titanic yet - - have not had the desire, too. However, there is a Christian bird zoo in that area that I want to see the next time we are there.
It's obvious from the pictures you had a great day -- - even Jonathan who had to be patient!

Hope you have a wonderful, blessed birthday, Amanda!!! Our girls have studied the Titanic and read vision forum's book about it as well. They love the history of it, so sad. Laura, Steve and I 1st had lunch at the Applewood restuarant on our honeymoon over 24 years ago, and we go back when we can. We actually went there for our 24th anniversary this year! Yes, an absolutely fabulous place to eat!!! Glad you had a great time! Maybe we will make it to the Titanic someday; my parents went this year and enjoyed it as well. Thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful day!!!

That museum must have been fun! While I'm Israeli, I was born in Ireland, and there is a museum in Cobh (formerly Queenstown), a major port in Ireland. The Titanic stopped there, and there is an awesome museum about the history of the ships that sailed from there--the Titanic included! I'm sure you'd like it.

Those fall decorations are so lovely. It's time to be thinking about climbing up in the attic and bringing them down. But at 88ยบ I just don't have the initiative to get up there.

Glad you enjoyed the Titanic museum. It's a tragedy that should never be forgotten.

I would love an ice cold glass of cider right about now.

What a fun outing! We've admired the "ship" as we would pass it by on our visits on to Pigeon Forge. We've never been through the exhibit. The Titanic is so fascinating!

OI love the picture of you and Arthur. And the boys all look so nice in the picture with them waiting. And I love Elizabeth's curly ponytail. You are such a beautiful family, inside and out.

Much love,
