Saturday...not just another day :)

Another day...
Another day trip!!!

First stop.....

We visited Field of the Woods in North Carolina.
As a little boy Arthur has been here and we have talked often about taking
our family there. Last month a friend of ours Miss Lynda and her husband Bill
visited, which gave us the inspiration for visiting. Yesterday was the day to go!

Field of the Woods

displays the world's largest Ten Commandments!
It was built in 1945 by the Church of God of Prophecy.
The letters are 5 ft tall or taller,
and there are 350 steps to the top of the hill.

Starting the climb....

A quick picture,
and a spot to take an extra breath before climbing the rest of the way.

Mary Ann and I bringing up the rear,
the extra 25 pounds I was carrying made for a slow climb.

Almost there.....

At the top!!!

The view......

Off to the left side when looking down from the top of the hill you see
~JESUS DIED FOR OUR SINS~
written out in the shrubs.
Behind that you see Golgotha.

Facing Ten Commandments Mountain is Prayer Mountain, and the Psalms of Praise Wall.
When you walk up the Prayer Mountain there are 29 teachings of the Bible explained on headstone-like monuments.

Time to head back down....

Coming down was much easier than climbing up :)

This is a replica of Jesus' tomb.
Ruth Ella and Wesley really liked this, as it gave them a visual of the tomb.

This was our next stop.....
Mercier Orchards in Georgia....
We were in 3 states in 1 day,
pretty cool to live so close to the line of both states:)

This wooden train engineer welcomed us as we entered the orchard store.

The store had so much to see and sample, YUM!

This board displayed all the flavors of fudge they had available.

One type of apple they had was called Jonathan.
When we showed him, he got tickled about that.

Candied Apples...
So cute and creative

The bakery was full of delightful yummies....

Here in the south you can get almost anything fried....

Just looking in the case could give you a sugar overload,
and you could tack on a few pounds!

We sat outside to eat our bakery snack.....

Apple Fritters.....

And Fried Apple Pie

Back inside....
they had a neat section of tea items....

Tea for Two!?

There was a huge room of toys....

An old tractor, and admirer

Mercier makes jams, jellies, cider, syrups, BBQ sauce, dressings, and the list goes on.....

If you needed a new set of measuring spoons or cups they had them....
each set had a theme, not sure I could pick just one!
William really liked all the smelling in the candle area ....

Home Decor....

Honeycomb....
Wall of Honey

We were all a buzz over this wall...
~pun intended ;)

This was a day full of smiles, fun, and lots of sugar!

This is what happens to some after a full day.....
Which makes for a quiet ride :)

Last Stop

Dinner at Gondolier Pizza

And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord;
It shall rejoice in His salvation.
Psalm 35:9

Looks like a fun day all around! I noticed not a lot of cars/visitors in the parking lot though. I guess it's not your average tourist's usual stopping spot!

I am very impressed that you all walked those steps!!! The kids should have eaten the sugar before the climb. It truly is a wonderful place to visit and be reminded in a BIG way God's guidelines of love for us.

Merciers - - - yum, yum, yum, yum, yum!!! You could spend half a day there - - and eat a couple of meals if you had the first one when you walked in the door. Oh, I wish you had had time to holler at Amanda. She was within about 20 minutes of you. However, she will be out and about more in September. Perhaps she will visit. She loves you all dearly, too.

Looks like you had a great day! We've often taken day trips to the coast (3 hours each way) or to Eastern Washington. Makes you feel like you've been on a mini vacation!

There weren't many people when we arrived but by the time we left there was a large church group having a picnic. And there was a group having a singing, it was really a neat place!

Looked like a fun day. :) Those candy apples were about the cutest thing. I really liked the pig one. I loved the sweet one of your littlest one in the stroller. She seriously could not be any cuter. Is she always so happy? They are always dressed so cute too.

I hardly have time to blog and not much time to read your blog either. (Sad face). The summer has been nice. God has been good to us. I think of you often even if I am not leaving comments. I love you and all of the Muncks!
