1 Book Down...

Last week we started the book Charlotte's Web and we finished it Friday afternoon. It was a fast read but oh so good!!! The kids loved it and didn't want the story to end....I even had a few get teary eyed when Charlotte passed away :(

I was excited to find so many things on the Internet for a unit study on Charlotte's Web. There were lots of printables out there for free which made it easy for me to tailor the worksheets for my many different age/grade levels.
SOME PIG...written in the web
Friday night we celebrated with a book party!!!
We ordered pizza, had veggies and dip, and....
I made a chocolate cake :)
~The cake was a last minute thought at 4PM,
so it was made with what was on hand~
The cake was very moist and rich...
it made lots of little(& big)people happy:)
We finished off the evening with a Charlotte's Web movie...
it was OK, but as William stated it wasn't like the book!!!
Books are "always" so much better than the movie!

Tomorrow we start our next book, we are looking forward to where it will take us. What book are you reading aloud?

Munck Baby #12

Due... August 9, 2013!!!!

We shall see if Baby Munck arrives on  August 9,
I have been known to carry 2 weeks late or go 3 weeks early....
either way Baby Munck will arrive in the Lord's perfect time!
And, oh will we be thrilled to see who this little person is,
this treasured gift that we have been blessed with.

I have been asked how I'm doing,
well, that all depends when you ask me ;)
For the first several weeks the morning sickness was...
All. Day. Long. Sickness.
Smells were not good, some foods were~yuck~
reading wasn't pleasant and the computer was my worst enemy,
I couldn't read or type without becoming very ill!
In just the past couple of days these things are getting better, Yay~
I have thankfully moved into "my normal" morning sickness,
which is evening sickness...
I had this with most of my babies:)
Last weekend I had a few complications which gave a scare,
so I spent the weekend on bed rest.
Monday morning Arthur took me to the doctor where I had a
second ultrasound...
We walked away "Praising the Lord"
Baby Munck #12
looked perfect and was just fine!

I am now entering into week 13 of pregnancy
and I'm starting to look different....
I'm now gaining weight and rounder in the middle.
I have the look of, well, FAT~
 Many years ago,
the fat look stage before and after pregnancy
really bothered me, yes that was vain!
With age and wisdom I  now see the weight as a sign of hard work,
that tiny little person I'm handed after all is said and done
is so worth the weight gain...
A tiny little bundle with silky smooth pink skin,
a round head with peach fuzz that tickles your nose when you lean in to smell it,
Oh and the smell is divine, a smell like nothing else,
the smell is the smell of "new" life,
when you touch the palm of that tiny baby hand the fingers wrap around yours
pulling you tightly in and warming the deepest part of your heart,
then you cradle the baby close and hold the baby up against your chest
where your hearts beat and you have a feeling of oneness...
As if you weren't in love already,
these moments are the first of many treasured memories,
memories that are priceless!

Christmas Ornament says...BABY 2013

We told our children Christmas morning about the baby. I cross stitched an ornament that said BABY 2013.
Arthur and I wrapped the ornament, we saved it for the last present. We gathered the children in a circle on the floor and they opened the box, Ruth Ella pulled it out and Elizabeth read the words....
they were surprised and thrilled!!!!
We  had a few yell out that they had been praying for another baby!

Our children did really well to keep the baby a secret for so many weeks,
it was really hard for Wesley.
He has claimed this baby as his and ask me daily..
"how is my baby doing"?
I love his sweet heart and his excitement for a new sibling.

Baby Booties
Yesterday I received a surprise in the mail...
the most precious mint green baby booties, along with a letter of congratulations and prayers!
This was sent from a blog/pen pal friend who I have never met face to face,
isn't the Lord wonderful to give us friends :)

speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,  giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

January 22...How???

It's Tuesday...
January 22!!!!

Truly January 2013 is almost gone!!!

Being in the house most the month with sick ones I feel we missed January! The month has been a blur from fevers, wiping noses, coughs, medicine, hot tea, cuddles, videos, and lots of chatting...the month disappeared! Mind you, I'm not complaining, nope, not one bit! 2013 didn't start off like I had planned but obviously my plans weren't that important and could be changed. Family, life, and love mean more than plans! School, well, school just didn't happen in the mix of all the sickness...another reason we love to year round school, we aren't behind we just had to regroup.

While the children were sick I myself wasn't 100% up to par, so the down time gave me time to gather my thoughts after a busy Christmas/New Year time. Today seemed like a great day to get our 2013 in swing, with children now well, they were eager and full of energy. Today I started a read aloud, Charlotte's Web...they love it! It's always fun to read together. At the rate we read today we'll finish the book by Friday, but I already have another book lined up next :)

For some in our family this month did pan out to be a very productive month. While I was home with sick littles, our store was very busy with New Years boarders and all those daily daycare pups...which are like our own, and we love! And then there were the days/nights/ & weekends that we had many or all well able bodies out at the farm working! I have been shocked and amazed at how much they have gotten accomplished out there in the past few weeks. Arthur is a go-getter kind of man always has been ....he never sits idle, and if he does he goes to sleep ;) Well, I have seen over the past several years most of our children where given the go-getter gene! This is how so much was accomplished at the farm, team work and go go go! Arthur and the children have taken lots of pictures I hope to have time to share them soon, along with the direction in which the farm is moving.

That's been our January so far, full of daily life and lots of love!!!!

Sickness Update & Giveaway :)

(Picture taken at Christmas)

I'm excited to report that sickness is 'almost' gone!!!!! Jonathan is well, Jonathan with his season head stuff...but he looks so much better! Ruth Ella had her last fever on Saturday, and woke yesterday fever free. Her appetite isn't to good and she is still a bit on the loungy side. Mary Ann is on the tail end of her sickness, she still has a low fever and eating very little....but boy is she starting to get feisty! Wesley over the weekend had a low fever, ear ache, and lots of sinus stuff. Today his head and ear still hurt. So there you have it~The Munck infirmary report ;)

While sick we have sat around lots putting out a very minimal amount of energy...I'm speaking for myself and those who were sick, the rest of the family has been busy. The one thing that takes little energy is sitting watching a video. So, we took in more videos in the past week or so than we have in years! Last week we received a new video in the email, it came at a perfect time! I pre-ordered the video and had no idea when it would show up, we were thrilled when it arrived. It came on a Friday so it was our Friday family night movie:) The Moore family made this film, we really enjoy their work. So, when I purchased our video, I bought an extra to giveaway!

It Is Your Life: The Moody Family

2013 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival Semi-Finalist

*Our family found this film so refreshing and real. In a day and age where families are to busy to work together, pray together, and encourage one another the Moody family does just that. Life isn't perfect and the road isn't smooth, but with their faith in the Lord they remain strong in Him!  The Munck Family

About the film...
In this increasingly secular world, God is raising up families that love Him and seek to obey His Word. They aren’t perfect families. But God, in His grace, is doing a work in their hearts and homes. In this second episode of It is Your Life, we’ll take you to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina to visit the home of the Moody Family. You will be encouraged, challenged, and inspired as Trent and Angela transparently share the joys and challenges of raising a Christian family in an ungodly culture.
 Topics include:
• Family unity
• Home education for Biblical reasons
• Grandparents’ perspectives
• Influencing the culture while protecting our children
• Trusting the Lord for the blessing of children in spite of financial and physical difficulties
•  Training sons and daughters in their God-ordained roles
•  Caring for an aging parent
•  Daily family worship

You'll find the Moody's transparency in sharing their own struggles to be quite refreshing!

Our Theme Tree

Fruits of the Spirit
Several months ago I was ask about our theme tree, but hadn't gotten around to sharing about it. I was trying to figure out when we bought our first tree, I believe it was 7 years ago. We purchased our first tree from Hobby Lobby at Christmas time, at that time we had no intentions of keeping the tree out year round. When it came time to put up the tree that was placed in the corner of our kitchen, I just couldn't. I loved having the tree light up the dead unused space in the kitchen. So, we decided to incorporate it into our decor throughout the year. The tree is prelit but within a couple of years the lights went out, and we couldn't get them back working. Christmas was just weeks away and Arthur said I could purchase a new tree....this time I bought a tree a bit bigger than the first one. When I got home I couldn't part with the old tree, so we put a new strand of lights on it and decided to put the tree in our family room. So, we now decorate 2 trees that stay up year round, one is in our kitchen the other is in our family room.

Family Room Tree
We decorate the trees to go along with the school lesson, season, or the holiday
but we never decorate the trees in the same theme.
Of course the kitchen tree is the one that changes most often due to the fact it's our birthday tree.

July 4th

Our younger children enjoy seeing the tree change themes.
They absolutely love it when they help out with crafting new decorations for the tree.
The tree has become a family affair,
some of our children have said when they have a family they too want a theme tree.

So, that's the story behind our theme tree in a nut shell.
Arthur and I agree we can't imagine not having a theme tree,
It's, well, kind of our signature thing...quirky as it may be?!

The Pink Cup

When making lunch this afternoon, I had some kitchen helpers with me...and a few that weren't helping ;) William was making drinks for everyone and putting them on the table, when I hear a little boy say "I don't want the pink cup". William quickly replied "well, everyone has to use the pink cup and today it's yours".  No faster than those words left William's lips, the little boy began to get upset stating he didn't like pink and wouldn't be drinking from the pink cup! A million thoughts went through my mind as I listened to the complaints of the little boy. My first thought was WOW, this little boy will most definitely be using the pink cup. My next thought was unbelievable how only minutes before this little boy was eager for lunch and something to drink, but within a matter of seconds it all changed due to being served from a pink cup!My heart was disappointed....

My head whirled and I began to ponder a deeper thought than the unwanted pink cup.....

I began to think of how ungrateful this child was being, and how he wanted his way! Which then lead me to thinking about how as an adult I can be the same way. I pray and ask the Lord for something, over time I see that something I have been asking for come into reach. Then I look up and one day I have that something sitting in front of me and I think...Oh Lord this is the something I wanted, but not the way I wanted it! How disappointed the Lord must be with me for my ungrateful heart and attitude.

As I sat and chatted with the little boy about being grateful, speaking kindly, and having a good attitude I ask the Lord..."Please, help this Mama to be grateful for all I'm given, even if it comes in an unwanted pink cup". Life is learning and lessons are abounding in our everyday lives, this holds true for the young and old.

I'm thankful for my children, seems I learn as much from them as they do from me:)

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.      Romans 12:2

James' Birthday

 James turned
  November 13

It was hard to come up with a theme for James as he isn't really into anything right now other than......

 He loves to be outside!

An outdoor theme seemed fitting. When at the farm James can most often be found in the woods cutting privet, I believe he has taken it on as his personal mission to get rid of all the privet.

We have so much privet James could be cutting for years, we sure are proud of how hard he has worked to clean out many areas already.

The table was set with lots of James' favorite treats
*Peanut Butter Cookies~ shaped into leaves
*Trail Mix
*Almond Joy Bars

On the Menu
*Chick-Fil-A chicken strips
*Artichoke Dip and Chips
*Sparkling Grape Juice

The cake was 2 pound cakes iced in buttercream icing.

James is the last of our family birthdays, by November he is very excited about his day coming;)

We love you James,
we look forward to the coming year watching you grow. Our prayer is that as you continue to grow in stature you grow in the wisdom of the Lord as well. You are a blessing to our family with the joy, encouragement, and laughter you bring each of us.

The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom,
And before honor is humility.

Sickness Update...

I'm thinking all of you must be as tired as I am, with all these post about sickness. I know that many of you have been praying, I wanted to let you know where we stand as of today. So, let me start by saying yesterday was a blur as we sat, cuddled, slept, wiped noses, cuddled, slept, took medicine, and watched videos....not much to report, a day gone by with fevers! Today Ruth Ella woke up with a temperature of 100, I'm thinking we are now seeing the last of the flu with her! Jonathan is still very congested. I think what he has now is what we refer to as the "Down  Syndrome Crude" as this is a seasonal norm for him :(  Love his sweet heart he really is such a tough guy. Mary Ann is on day 2 of high fever, not eating much, and sticking to her Mama like glue :) The blessing is that Mary Ann has still been taking good naps and sleeping through the night...with a few spells of crying, but calms back down quickly.

I will continue to update on the sick ones. Please know that all who have left us a comment sharing that your family /children are sick with the flu as well we have been praying for you!

Now while little girls are napping I'm going to work on a few post that have been in drafts for way to long :)

Let heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and everything that moves in them.

Ruth Ella on the mend!
Well, we are now almost 2 weeks in with Jonathan coming down with the flu, and on day 5 for Ruth Ella. I think in the almost 21 years we have had children we have never 'until now' officially had the flu. We have had lots of bugs and viruses, just not the full fledged flu...until now!

Jonathan is doing much better, he isn't 100% yet. His nose is starting to clear up, he had blown it so much that it was raw and red. His deep cough is starting to break up as well. We are excited to see him looking and feeling better.

Ruth Ella, this little girl has been sick, WOW, like scary sick! Yesterday was still a very bad day with fever 102-103 and a deep cough. She wouldn't eat much yesterday, and we had to really coax her to take in fluids. Last night she slept through the night, and woke feeling better....not fever free but better. Today she held a fever right at 101, and is still having joint pains. She drank more and ate some, she even got out of bed several times to check and see what everyone was doing. Late this afternoon she even had enough energy to color. We are thrilled to see her perking up, and illness beginning to fade.

Mary Ann was wishy washy yesterday. At one moment she was up and going the next she was whiny, she kept a low fever. She went to bed at her normal bed time but then cried on and off all night. Today was a day of low fever, a sweetie who needed cuddles, and wanted her pink night night. By bed time her fever was up to 102, so I'm thinking she is the next victim to this intrusive flu bug!

The flu has now hit 3 out of 13 of our family. When doing the math if it were to hit us all at the rate it's going it will be about spring before we are flu free...grrr!!!!  We are praying it stops here, and thanking the Lord for His hand being upon those who are sick.

Thanks to all who have stopped by to visit and prayed for our children, what a blessing you are.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!

Flu :(

Another day of sickness!

Jonathan is still about the same, thankfully he doesn't have a fever. Fighting off illness is very difficult for Jonathan, so when he gets sick it seems to linger with him longer than it would for most. Then there is always the fear he'll get something secondary on top of that. So, we have to be careful and often times treat Jonathan as we would one of the littles. He is such a trooper and never complains when ill.

Ruth Ella has kept a fever between 102-103, she didn't sleep well last night. By 12:45AM I joined her in her bed for the rest of the night, she coughed all through the night and cried in her sleep. Today she took in lots of fluids, we cuddled, and she napped off and on. Late this afternoon I gave her a bubble bath to help reduce her fever, and to wash her hair which had sticky Popsicle in it...not to mention the huge tangles from laying so much. She got into a clean pair of jammies, and I braided her hair in hopes of keeping it from tangling again. We tucked her into bed about an hour ago, she said she didn't need me to sleep with her tonight. I think she is right, even as sick as she is she's much better than yesterday. This is her third day sick so I hope we are on the upswing now.

We might be adding another to the infirmed list, before bed Mary Ann had a low fever, so we'll see what tomorrow brings?!? Praying the Lord give them peaceful sleep and healing.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.   1Thessalonians 5:16-18

Friday, January 4, 2013

For the past several weeks our family has battled some fevers and sickness. I now believe we are hosting the flu....even though it entered without an invitation! Ruth Ella has had a fever of 102-104 all day, as of today Jonathan and Ruth Ella are the sickest. We are praying that no one else comes down sick, we are seeking to evict the flu bug before it makes itself to comfortable!

Back to snuggling my sick girl.... Good night!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
