1 Book Down...

Last week we started the book Charlotte's Web and we finished it Friday afternoon. It was a fast read but oh so good!!! The kids loved it and didn't want the story to end....I even had a few get teary eyed when Charlotte passed away :(

I was excited to find so many things on the Internet for a unit study on Charlotte's Web. There were lots of printables out there for free which made it easy for me to tailor the worksheets for my many different age/grade levels.
SOME PIG...written in the web
Friday night we celebrated with a book party!!!
We ordered pizza, had veggies and dip, and....
I made a chocolate cake :)
~The cake was a last minute thought at 4PM,
so it was made with what was on hand~
The cake was very moist and rich...
it made lots of little(& big)people happy:)
We finished off the evening with a Charlotte's Web movie...
it was OK, but as William stated it wasn't like the book!!!
Books are "always" so much better than the movie!

Tomorrow we start our next book, we are looking forward to where it will take us. What book are you reading aloud?

We're reading two books aloud - "Little Maid of Philadelphia" and Henty's "The Treasure of the Incas." I enjoy reading time as much as my children.
Loved your book celebration. What a cute idea!

"Where the Red Fern Grows" and "The Secret Garden" are in our hopper. Both were books I enjoyed as a child over and over again.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I read your blog, just usually don't comment, but I love your food posts. That cake looks yummy!

You're such a fun mother! I never would have thought of a book party, and even if I had, it wouldn't have been as creative as yours! We're reading The Bronze Bow right now and will start The Long Winter from the Little House series soon.

William is right; the book is much better. So rich in language and thought; it is the perfect read-aloud. I love all of E.B. White's books - Stuart Little is fun, and The Trumpet of the Swan. The last paragraph of The Trumpet of the Swan is so lovely that I copied it and had it pinned to my refrigerator for a long time.

My littles loved the My Father's Dragon series - it really captivated them.

Your family's celebrations are just wonderful.

We LOVE to read out loud together. All the bigs and littles together. We just finished reading Laura Ingalls Wilder's The First Four Years. Not sure what to read next.....your book party sounded FUN and that cake....delicious.

Benjamin and I are keeping it simple with things like Good Night Moon, The Napping house, etc. We also read a child's devotional from God & Me. ;)
